Hyderabad: The botched up Double Puncture Laparoscopy (DPL) operation at Civil Hospital in Hyderabad claimed 2 more lives on Tuesday.
The latest deaths has taken the toll in the incident to 4. The operations, that were part of the National Family Planning Indemnity Scheme (NFPIS) at Ibrahimpatnam in Ranga Reddy district went horribly wrong, with 4 of the 34 women involved complaining of intense pain and health complications.

The victims had developed gastrointestinal problems, nausea and fever after the surgery that further worsened their health conditions. However, an official from the hospital revealed that there are nine more women having same symptoms post the surgery.
He said those women have rushed to the private hospitals where they are undergoing treatment.

The operations caused panic and tension in the area. After the incident came into light, several leaders of Congress and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hit the road to demonstrate against the state government.
The protestors held Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao responsible for the fiasco and burnt his effigies.
However, the state government has ordered an inquiry in the matter. The investigation team will also look out if the health deteriorated cause of the death was failure of surgery or consumed food or water.
