Agartala: In a shameful crime against humanity, a 24-year-old man raped his own mother under the influence of alcohol. The Sesssions Court of Bishalgarh court in Sepahijala district on Friday sentenced the accused of life imprisonment.
As per the news, the man who belongs to a Takarjala committed the heinious crime on May 2 last year at her home. Speaking on the issue, the police official informed that the accused had raped his mother while his father was not at home. The incident took place while returning home early in the morning after a local festival.
Disgusting as it may sound, Ajoy, the accused had breakfast in the morning and drank alcohol. After which, he threatened to strangle his mother if she did not have sex with him. The man raped her mother and fled.
Three days after the incident, the woman reported the incident to the police and filed a complaint in which, she stated that her son sexually assaulted her in inebriate condition.
Taking immediate action, Police arrested the man and the court allowed him to be tried in custody, terming the incident as one of the rarest crimes, Attorney General Goutam Giri said.
After conducting a brief investigation in the matter with all the convinving evidences as well as the testimony of 20 witnesses, Additional Sessions Judge Bishal Gour convicted the son of rape under Section 376(2). )(F) of the IPC and sentenced him to life imprisonment, reported the news agency IANS.
Giri pointed out that this case may mark the first instance in the state’s history where a son committed such a despicable act against his mother. (The victim’s identity has been withheld to protect her privacy in accordance with Supreme Court guidelines on sexual assault cases)
