New Delhi: Sometimes, your Universal Account Number (UAN) may get linked to the wrong Provident Fund (PF) ID. If this happens, you can delink the wrong PF ID online through the Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) portal.
What is Delinking PF ID?
Delinking means removing a wrong PF member ID that is mistakenly attached to your UAN. EPFO allows members to remove any incorrect PF IDs that may have been linked without their knowledge.
How to Delink Wrong PF ID Online
- Log in to EPFO Unified Member Portal: Go to the [EPFO portal](https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/) and enter yourUAN, password, and captcha.
- Go to Service History: Click on theViewmenu and thenService History.
- Click on Delink: Find the wrongly linked PF ID and click theDelinkbutton.
- Select Reason: Choose the reason for delinking on the next page.
- Verify with OTP: Enter the OTP sent to yourAadhaar-linked mobile number.
- Check Service History: Once verified, the PF ID will be removed and will no longer appear in your service history.
Note: If anElectronic Challan-cum-Returnhas already been filed against the PF ID, delinking will not work, and an error will appear.

- Alternative Ways to Remove Wrong PF ID
If online delinking does not work, you can also:
Contact Your Employer: Reach out to HR and explain that a wrong PF ID is linked to your UAN. Ask them to help correct it.
Raise an Online Grievance: Use the EPFiGMS portalto file a complaint. Provide your UAN, correct PF ID, wrong PF ID, and employer name. Explain the issue clearly.
Visit the Regional PF Office: If needed, go to the PF office that manages your employer’s code. Carry your ID, UAN details, and grievance copy. Explain the situation to the officials.
