Lawrence’s Onslaught Against Salman Khan — The History

The rivalry between the Bollywood superstar and the gangster dates back to 1998, when Salman Khan, along with the cast of Hum Saath Saath Hain, allegedly hunted a black buck during a shoot schedule. The black buck is considered sacred by the Bishnoi community.
What was considered a recreational activity by many led to widespread grief within the community. Lawrence, who was barely 5 years old at the time, reportedly grew up enraged by the incident and vowed to seek revenge one day.

The issue resurfaced when Salman Khan’s friend, Baba Siddique, was killed in Mumbai on October 12, allegedly by members of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. Soon after, Salman Khan’s father was also threatened by a stranger during his morning walk.

Salman later revealed that he had received a threat message sent to the Mumbai Traffic Police, demanding Rs 5 crore to avoid being targeted by the Bishnoi gang. Following the threat, Ramesh Bishnoi — a cousin of Lawrence — claimed that Salman had attempted to settle the matter by offering a blank cheque, which the community refused.

Vikram Brar, the brother of Canada-based gangster Goldy Brar—a key member of the Bishnoi gang, who took responsibility for the Moosewala murder—also reportedly sent a threat letter to Salman.

The letter read:
“Salim Khan, Salman Khan, bahut jald aapka Moosewala hoga”
(“Salim Khan, Salman Khan, you will meet Moosewala’s fate very soon”),
and ended with the initials ‘G.B.’ (Goldy Brar) and ‘L.B.’ (Lawrence Bishnoi).

Firing in Front of Salman Khan’s Residence

On April 14, two men on a bike opened fire outside Salman Khan’s residence in Mumbai’s Bandra. The police claimed that the shooters were hired by the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, which has repeatedly expressed its desire to kill the actor.

Police further revealed that the gang had planned a more expansive attack on Salman Khan’s car in Maharashtra’s Panvel region, using weapons sourced from a Pakistani supplier.

After the shooting, investigators recovered an audio recording related to the attack. The Mumbai Police sent the file for forensic analysis. The forensic report confirmed that the voice in the audio matched that of Anmol Bishnoi, Lawrence’s Canada-based brother.

The audio, reviewed repeatedly by police, revealed that Anmol was in constant touch with the shooter. Police believe the attack was planned and executed by the Bishnoi gang, which has made several previous attempts to assassinate the actor.

Anmol’s Past Involvement in Criminal Cases

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday sent Anmol Bishnoi, an accused in the murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique, to 11 days of NIA custody. The NIA brought Anmol to Patiala House Court around 5 p.m., under tight security, shortly after arresting him following his deportation from the United States.

Why Was Anmol Singh Bishnoi Wanted?

Anmol, the brother of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was wanted in several high-profile cases, including:

  • The murder of NCP leader Baba Siddique
  • The firing at actor Salman Khan’s residence in April 2024
  • The killing of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala
