New Delhi: After being stopped to speak in the Parliament on Thursday, Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that it would not happen if the Indian democracy was functioning.

“Unfortunately for you, I’m a MP and as allegation has been made in the Parliament by four ministers, it is my democratic right to have the opportunity. So, if Indian democracy was functioning, i would be able to say my piece in parliament. What you are seeing, is the test of Indian democracy,” said Gandhi while a media interaction post the Parliament proceedings on March 16.

“In the morning, I went to Parliament and spoke with the Speaker (Lok Sabha) that I want to speak. Four ministers of the govt had put allegations against me so I have a right to keep my views in the house. I’m hopeful that I will be allowed to Speak in Parliament tomorrow,” said Rahul Gandhi.

The Wayanad MP said that “the story started” when he gave speech about Business Tycoon Gautam Adani. In that speech, Gandhi mentioned, he asked a “fundamental questions” from Prime Minister Modi about his “relationship” with Adani.

Including that he asked how Adani was given pretty much India-Israel defence relationship, how he was given bombay and other airports and how the “rules have been changed to allow to be given these thing.”

He also hit out at BJP for allegations against him 

“After 4 leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have made allegations against a Member of Parliament, is that member going to be given the same space that those 4 had been given or is he going to be told to shut up. That is the real question..”
