Himachal Cloud Burst

Himachal Cloudburst: Heavy rains in Himachal Pradesh caused havoc last night. It is raining in the State for the last 55 hours. After the rains, landslides took place at many places in the state. The crops of the farmers have been destroyed. At the same time, many roads have been closed due to landslides. Many people are stranded on the highway. The administration is evacuating the settlements inhabited by the farmers of the river. Overall, there has been devastation all around.

7 killed in cloudburst in Solan

Seven people were killed and three are missing in a cloudburst in Jadon village of Solan in Himachal Pradesh. Incessant rains in Himachal Pradesh in the last 24 hours have triggered landslides, blocking several roads including the Shimla-Chandigarh road. Five people were killed, three went missing and five were rescued after the cloudburst occurred in Jadon village of Kandaghat subdivision of Solan, said Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Kandaghat Siddharth Acharya.

Schools, Colleges shut; examinations cancelled

According to the information received from the government, more than 800 roads are closed in the entire state. Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has issued an alert for rain for the next 3-4 hours. Apart from this, a cloudburst warning has been issued in the catchment areas of Beas, Ranjit Sagar and Sutlej rivers.

CM Sukhu held a meeting with the DMs of all the districts in the late evening. CM has declared holidays in all schools and colleges today. Apart from this, the education department has also canceled many examinations. At the same time, the administration has set up a control room in view of the situation arising out of heavy rains. People will be able to inform on 112 in case of any kind of problem.

Power outage

Hundreds of houses and thousands of bighas of farmers’ crops were destroyed due to incessant rains in the state. In the last two days, private and government property worth crores of rupees has been damaged. Shimla, Mandi, Bilaspur and Sirmaur districts have suffered the most in the state due to rain. Roads are closed due to landslides in Shimla, Mandi and Bilaspur. The connection of many towns with the district headquarters has been severed. The power system has also been disrupted due to the landslide.

Loss & Destruction

At the same time, 260 people have died due to monsoon rains in the state so far. While 32 people are missing. So far, more than 8 thousand houses have become victims of destruction in the state. On the other hand, according to the statistics of the state government, property worth more than 7 thousand crores has been destroyed in the state so far.
