Himachal Pradesh: In a shocking incident that recently unfolded in Himachal Pradesh’s Sirmaur district, at least 24 female students were allegedly sexually harassed by a teacher at a government school. The incident came to light after the girls complained against him to the sexual harassment committee. According to reports, the accused teacher has been remanded to police custody for 3 days.
Students Complain To Principal
The girl students from Classes 8th to 10th had told the principal about their chilling experience with the mathematics teacher during a school programme. In their written complaint, the students alleged that the educator touched them inappropriately. It has been learnt that even the parents were uninformed about the harassment inflicted upon their children by the trained graduate teacher. Following the realization, the parents protested against the school management and the teacher.
Accused Teacher Remanded To 3-Day Police Custody
A case under the relevant sections, including the POCSO Act, was registered against the accused, and he was arrested shortly after. Meanwhile, the teacher has also been suspended from the school, and a preliminary inquiry has been ordered by the Director of School Education. In a letter, he had asked the Deputy Director of Elementary Education to visit the Government school and record the statements of the teacher and students. Additionally, a week has been allotted to submit the report. On the other hand, the teacher was produced before a local court last Sunday, and sent to three-day police custody.
