Bilaspur (Himachal Pradesh): Union Minister Anurag Thakur Tuesday promised to provide 33 per cent reservation in government jobs to women in Himachal Pradesh and Rs 51,000 for poor women during their marriage provided the saffron party retains power.
The Union Minister said, “33% reservation for women in government jobs, cycle for school-going students and scooty for college-going students, Rs 51,000 to poor women during their marriage, 3 free gas cylinders in a year for poor women, if BJP comes to power in Himachal Pradesh.
He slammed the Congress and compared its 60 years rule in Himachal Pradesh with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) who has been in power for 5 years in the hill state.
He said, “Compare Congress’s 60 years of rule to our 5 years of rule, and you’ll see that our 5 years of rule will have more weightage. They’ve only stopped developments whereas we’ve brought developments in the state.”
The BJP currently holds 45 seats in the state legislative assembly whereas, Congress has 22 seats and 1 for the CPIM.
Himachal Pradesh will undergo polls on November 12 and the results will be tallied on December 8.
Political observers have the impression that although the ruling party has not yet done so in Himachal, it plans to do so, just as it did in Uttarakhand last year. Therefore, a discussion about seat distribution was held at Marathon.
