Gudlavalleru College of Engineering in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh saw a strong protest after the recovery of the camera, the videos of which were allegedly circulated among the college students.
Hidden camera found
The camera was found by a student residing in the hostel which thereupon stirred outrage among students on Thursday night who raised serious concerns about the safety, security and privacy of girls.
As soon as the device was recovered, students erupted the protest at night and chanted slogans like “We want justice” calling for the most stringent action against the perpetrators.
Perpetrator caught?
A final-year student whose identity remains undisclosed has been taken up in the matter and has been detained. This student was believed to be operational in placing the device, though how many more are involved in his criminal offense is yet to be discovered.
Engineering college refutes
The college administration however has refuted all such claims of recovering a hidden camera. It said that it is fully cooperating with the police on the probe and will ensure more safety measures for the students to prevent any such acts.
