Harjinder, 28, is from Rataul village in Punjab’s Tarn Taran district. He faces three charges of vehicular homicide for a crash on the Florida Turnpike on August 12. Investigators say he was driving a tractor-trailer, made an illegal U-turn, and hit a minivan carrying three people. Two died at the scene, and the third died later in the hospital.

Charges Against Harjinder Singh

After the accident, Harjinder Singh ran away to California. He was later brought back to Florida after being arrested. One of his relatives, Dilbagh Singh, said the family could not speak much because they were in shock. He also said they were saddened by the deaths of the three people in the accident. He added that similar incidents have happened before.

Online Petition For Harjinder Singh

Harjinder Singh has received widespread support, but it has caused a lot of criticism. Conservative outlets like Breitbart News have covered it. Breitbart reported on X that over 1,600,000 people signed an online petition, said to be from “Punjabi youth,” asking the government to free Harjinder Singh. Social media users expressed anger. One person said that if a white man had done the same and the victims were Indian, no one would ask for leniency, and the man would be punished.
