In a heartfelt tribute to a life lost too soon, the Hemant Bala Advaitha (HBA) Foundation will launch a nationwide Drowning Prevention Awareness Campaign on July 25, 2025, coinciding with the United Nations-recognised World Drowning Prevention Day. The initiative honours the memory of Advaitha Verma, an 18-year-old music prodigy and Symbiosis student who tragically drowned in Pawna Lake, Lonavala, on June 23, 2024.
Advaitha’s tragic death became a pivotal moment for his parents, Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma, who channeled their grief into a lifelong mission to educate, prevent, and raise awareness about drowning, aiming to save lives. Though Pawna Lake and other scenic lakes in Lonavala appear tranquil, their calm surfaces hide deadly risks that have claimed numerous young lives, including Advaitha’s.
Advaitha’s parents, Sudesh Verma and Renu Kaul Verma, have turned their unimaginable personal loss into a life-saving mission. “With every drowning, our society must rise like a symphony—not in silence, but in solidarity,” said Sudesh Verma. “Each life saved will be a tribute to Advaitha—and to thousands like him whose dreams were silenced by preventable tragedies,” added Renu Kaul Verma.
A Symphony Music Award 2025: Music With A Mission
To connect with youth and amplify the campaign’s message, the HBA Foundation is also launching a national singing competition– Advaitha: A Symphony Music Award 2025. The contest aims to channel Advaitha’s passion for music into a tool for awareness and change.

How To Participate?
The HBA Foundation invites schools, colleges, music academies, and youth organisations across the country to participate, promote, and support this initiative. Media outlets, influencers, and civil society groups are urged to help amplify the message so that no other family must endure such a loss in silence.
“This is more than a competition—it’s a call to save lives,” says Renu Kaul Verma. Let Advaitha’s voice echo through every participant, and let music become our collective message of prevention and hope,” she added.
