On Friday, Akhilesh Yadav, the chief of the Samajwadi Party (SP), asserted that he has not been extended an invitation to the consecration ceremony of Lord Ram Lalla in the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, scheduled for January 22.
Speaking to reporters at an event organized in the party’s Lucknow office on the birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda, Akhilesh Yadav mentioned that he learned about an invitation being sent through a courier, but he has not received it yet. He went on to claim that if someone asserts they sent the invitation, they should provide the courier receipt to facilitate tracking.

Akhilesh Yadav expressed his displeasure, stating, “Do not insult us in the name of Lord Ram. Someone said I got the invitation. Then the truth surfaced that it was no invite. It was some invite sent through a courier service, which has not reached yet. Then before reaching here, I checked if any courier reached and also asked people at the party office if there was a courier. Those who claim that the courier was sent, then please get us the courier service receipt so that we may track it.”
In a dig at the BJP, Akhilesh Yadav commented that the saffron party is contributing to the division of society. He stated, “The path chosen by BJP today is to divide the society. BJP’s path is neither of tolerance nor of universal acceptance. Today, as we remember Swami Vivekananda, we should resolve to follow the path shown by Swami Vivekananda,” emphasizing a call for unity and tolerance.
Earlier this week, Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) chief Alok Kumar claimed that the organization had sent the invitation for the pran-prathistha ceremony to SP chief Akhilesh Yadav. Responding to this, Yadav has made several statements about the invitation. Initially, he mentioned that he accepts invitations only from those he knows. Later, he expressed that if he receives an invitation, he would attend. “This is God’s program, and the chief minister can’t be bigger than God. Whomsoever God calls will run to God. If God calls me, I will go,” he stated.
Meanwhile, preparations are in full swing for the consecration ceremony of Ram Lalla in the newly built Ram Janmabhoomi Temple scheduled for January 22.
