‘Have Better Things To Do’: Shashi Tharoor Shuts Down Congress Jibes, Calls Out ‘Fulminating Zealots’ For Twisting His LoC Statement!

In Panama, Congress MP Tharoor stated that India has changed its approach in recent years, and terrorists now realise they will have to pay a price.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, who is leading an all-party delegation to deliver India’s strong message against terrorism to the world, has hit back at trolls. He came under attack from several leaders in his party, who even dubbed him a “Spokesperson for the BJP’ for his recent statement in Panama. In Panama, Tharoor stated that India has changed its approach in recent years, and terrorists now realise they will have to pay a price. While he was reiterating India’s stance against terrorism, what didn’t sit well with Congress leaders was his mention of the Uri Surgical Strike and Balakot Air Strike – both of which were carried out during PM Modi’s tenure.

Tharoor Calls Out ‘Zealtos’ For Pointing His Ignorance

The tussle has been ongoing since then, with several prominent Congress leaders openly slamming Tharoor and calling him BJP’s aide. Now, Tharoor has responded to the trolls, stating that he doesn’t have time to pay attention to them. In an X post, the Congress MP has clarified what he exactly spoke in Panama recently and how is shouldn’t bother anyone. He has specifically addressed the “zealots fulminating” about his supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC in the past.

Notably, the word “Zealots” refers to people who are extremely passionate or fanatical, especially about political or religious ideas and “Fulminating” implies for speaking or protesting angrily and forcefully.

Tharoor wrote on X, “ After a long and successful day in Panama, I have to wind up at midnightvhere with departure for Bogota, Colombia in six hours, so I don’t really have time for this — but anyway: For those zealots fulminating about my supposed ignorance of Indian valour across the LoC: in tge past.”

“I was clearly and explicitly speaking only about reprisals for terrorist attacks and not about previous wars; & My remarks were preceded by a reference to the several attacks that have taken place in recent years alone, during which previous Indian responses were both restrained and constrained by our responsible respect for the LoC and the IB,” Tharoor clarified further.

Trolls Are Welcome: Tharoor

He has also welcomed trolls and critics to distort his views however they find suitable. Tharoor has ended the post with a message that he has better things to do than indulge in this row.

“But as usual, critics and trolls are welcome to distort my views and words as they see fit. I genuinely have better things to do. Goodnight,” Tharoor added.

What Did Tharoor Say In Panama?

While speaking in Panama, Tharoor said, “This time, we crossed not only the Line of Control but also the international border, and we struck the terrorist headquarters in Balakot. This time, we have gone beyond both of those. We have not only gone beyond the Line of Control and the international border. We have struck at the Punjabi heartland of Pakistan by hitting terror bases, training centres, and terror headquarters in nine places.”

This statement of Tharoor was taken negatively by Congress leaders like Udit Raj, Pawan Khera and Jairam Ramesh. These leaders accused Tharoor of maligning Congress’ image and undermining UPA’s achievement in countering terrorism.

Congress leader Udit Raj told ANI, “Congress MP Shashi Tharoor is the super spokesperson of the BJP, and what the BJP leaders are not saying, speaking in favour of PM Modi and the government, Shashi Tharoor is doing… Does he even know what the earlier governments used to do? They (the Central government) are taking credit for the Indian Armed Forces. Shashi Tharoor has become the spokesperson for the publicity stunts of the BJP.”
