Haryana: A shocking case of child abuse has recently come to light in Haryana’s Panipat, where a 7-year-old boy was tied and hung upside down from a window as punishment for not doing his homework. Two disturbing videos from the school located on Jattal Road have gone viral on social media platforms. The clips show the brutality of the principal and staff members towards the young students.
While in one video, the Class 2 student was thrashed by the school driver, Ajay, by hanging him upside down, the other video showed Principal Reena slapping the children mercilessly. The 7-year-old boy’s mother said that her son was recently admitted to the school. She alleged that the school Principal called the driver to punish the child.
According to reports, the principal justified her actions, claiming she had informed the parents before disciplining the student who had misbehaved with two sisters. On being confronted, she admitted that she summoned Ajay to scold the young boy on August 13. Principal Reena further added that the driver was dismissed the same month. However, the child’s family alleged that the driver had sent some men to their house to threaten them after the video emerged.
Model Town Police registered a case under different sections of the Juvenile Justice Act (2015) after receiving a complaint. Panipat Model Town police station house officer (SHO) Jagminder told HT, “We have booked the school principal Reena and bus driver Ajay under sections 115 (voluntarily causing hurt), 127(2) (wrongful confinement), 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) Act and Section 75 of the Juvenile Justice Act. An investigation has been started, and the duo will be arrested soon.”
The disturbing incident questions the safety of the young students at school and underscores the urgent need for stricter child protection laws.
