New Delhi: Haryana Police in Shahabad used water cannons to disperse farmers who are protesting over their demand for minimum Support Prices for sunflower seeds.
The Farmers blocked National Highway-44 in Kurukshetra’s Shahabad, to clear the way, police had to use water canon.

Earlier today morning, hundreds of farmers blocked the National Highway-44 in Haryana’s Kurukshetra demanding the purchase of sunflower seeds at the minimum support price (MSP).
To maintain law and order, a large number of police forces reached the spot. According to information, the police officer in Shahabad diverted the traffic in view of the situation.
Haryana BKU (Chaduni) chief Gurnam Singh Chadhuni is leading the protest. The farmers demanded that the state government should withdraw its decision of not procuring sunflower seeds at Minimum Support Price (MSP) and include the crop under the Rate Compensation Scheme (Bhavantar).
