After the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) in Uttarakhand, it has become mandatory for those living in a live-in relationship to get registered. Under the UCC, the process of registration is going on across the state.
However, a different trend is being witnessed in Haridwar regarding live-in relationships. Not only unmarried couples, but married individuals are also applying to live in a live-in relationship with a third partner.
According to a News18 report, in Haridwar tehsil, the administration has received a total of 13 applications, out of which 5 applications were submitted by people who are already married.
The trend is astonishing after witnessing the desire of married individuals in Haridwar to live in a live-in relationship. SDM Jitendra Kumar informed that out of the 13 applications, 5 were submitted by married people, but their registrations have been cancelled.
Notably, 40 applications have been received for live-in registration in Haridwar, in which 18 couples are already living together without marriage.
Cases of extramarital affairs have surged in society. From ordinary people to well-known celebrities, such cases have come to light at regular intervals. In Haridwar, the married individuals wishing to live with a third partner indicates that they may be involved in extramarital relationships.
Another possible reason could be that these individuals’ marriage is not going well, and they want to live separately from their spouse while seeking a new partner.
