New Delhi: A number of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders including cheif ministers of the BJP-ruled states lost their golden ticks on ‘X’ (formerly known as Twitter) as soon as they changed their display picture to Tricolor.

The DPs were changed by the leaders of the saffron party ahead of the 77th Independence Day as a part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga campaign’ that was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Complying to the campaign, the leaders put up Tricolor as their profile picture on the micro-blogging platform. Those who lost the golden tick include Goa CM Dr Pramod Sawant, Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and Madhya Pradesh CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Apart from them, BJP national spokesperson Sambit Patra’s golden tick has gone too.

Not Complies With Policy

‘X’ assigns golden tick as a verification mark to those account which it deems to have genuine profile that belongs to the organisation or person they claim they represent.

As per the rule, the platform requires verified accounts to use their real names and display pictures.

However, the ‘X’ management will now review the profile of those leaders who have lost the verification mark to restore it.

PM’s grey tick remained intact

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had changed his profile picture as part of the campaign and set the Tricolor as DP. However, his grey tick stayed intact.
