Gyanvapi case: The Archaeological Survey of India on Saturday resumed its survey of Gyanvapi mosque amid heavy security at 9 am. The Allahabad High Court, on Thursday, upheld a Varanasi court order to allow the Archaeological Survey of India to conduct a survey of the Gyanvapi mosque. The court rejected the Muslim’s petition challenging the survey.
Chief Justice Pritinker Diwaker said that the Varanasi court order was justified as The ASI Survey is necessary for the in the interest of justice.
ASI survey
The Hindu counsel said that the Allahabad court said that the ASI survey of the Gyanvapi mosque complex can begin.
The ASI team on Friday reached at 7 am on the site and concluded the day’s work at 5 pm, according to the sources.
It is noted that the representatives of Hindu petitioners in the Gyanvapi dispute were present inside the complex during the survey, and Anjuman Intezamia Masid Committee, the caretaker of the premises, stayed away from the survey.
Mosque committee
The apex court did not provide any relief to the Mosque committee and it ordered that the Mosque committee has to give possible support in the survey proceedings. The Survey will continue today.
Large numbers of Police personnel are deployed on the mosque premises and strict vigil also was witnessed around the Kashi Kashi Vishwanath temple. The ASI team reached the spot around 7 am on Friday. Heavy security was deployed in and around the temple. More than 40 ASI officials are engaged in the survey. There was some delay in the survey as the mosque committee had not handed over the keys to the mosque. But it was cleared by 9 am and subsequently, the survey was started on Friday, according to the sources.
