Gurugram: Amidst the escalating communal clashes in Haryana, several corporate entities located in Gurugram have taken proactive measures to ensure the safety and well-being of their employees. With violence continuing in neighboring districts on August 1, many companies have opted to implement a work-from-home policy and shorten regular office hours for the coming days.
Gurugram, known as a prominent economic hub in Haryana and home to numerous IT, financial, and medical tourism establishments, sustains a thriving business ecosystem with over 30,000 companies and contributing to 70 percent of the state’s economic investments.
In response to the prevailing situation, the district magistrate has issued a public statement mandating the closure of all government and private educational institutions in the Sohna sub-division of Gurugram district on August 2, 2023.

“Taking into consideration the current situation, it has come to attention of undersigned that there is communal tension in the neighboring district of Nuh, which has led to the blockage of roads by anti-social elements in bordering parts of District Gurugram particularly sohna. Such actions may disrupt peace, tranquility, and public order in the region,” according to the order.
“In order to avoid any untoward incident and ensure the safety of the students … it is hereby ordered that all government and private educational institutions shall remain closed on August 2, 2023, in Sohna Sub-division…” the order further added.

However, the aftermath of yesterday’s 18-hour communal clash in Nuh, Haryana, which resulted in five fatalities and left over 70 people injured, has reached Sector 70 in Gurugram. On Tuesday evening, a shop and shanties adjacent to a residential complex were set on fire.
Gurgaon ACP Crime Varun Kumar Dahiya urged people to contact helpline no. 112 in case of any violence and warned against believing rumors. He assured that vehicular movement is not restricted, and the internet is functioning.
