A 29-year-old man who was arrested in connection with a rape and murder case of a 19-year-old girl in Gujraj’s Vapi revealed that he raped and murdered several women in the last month, said police.
The arrest came after a girl’s body was found near the tracks of Udvada railway station on November 14. “When the girl was returning home after attending tuition classes, the suspect attacked her on her head from behind and raped her. Later, he strangulated the girl and raped the corpse,” said police.
Police said, after two hours of the gruesome act, when Rahul Singh Jat felt hungry and went to a nearby shop to eat snacks. When he spotted that people discovered the body and a crowd gathered, he fled, leaving his belongings on the spot. Later, cops were alerted and the body was sent for post-mortem.

Police tracked him with the help of his belongings and electronic surveillance from the parking lot of Vapi railway station in Valsad. It was revealed that he raped and murdered a woman on a Kanyakumari-bound train between October 17 and 21.
On October 25, he strangulated a passenger in a disabled coach of a train. On November 19, he stabbed to death an elderly man on Katihar Expressway, and after four days on November 24, he robbed a woman and killed her on a train near Secunderabad railway station. The suspect, who is a class dropout, was nabbed after scanning more than 2000 cameras.
