New Delhi: A school in Mehsana district of Gujarat issued an apology allegedly for hurting sentiments of Hindu community by celebrating Muslim festival Eid al Adha in the school premises.
In a written apology, the school administration asked to consider the event as their “first and last mistake” as they never wanted to hurt any religion. The school principal also clarified that no such events will be held in future.
In a written apology letter, the school principal Rashi Gautam said, “We had organized Bakrid celebrations in the school which has hurt the sentiments of Hindu society. It was not our intention to hurt the sentiments of any religion. We are also Hindus and believe in each Hindu gods and goddesses. Consider it our first and last mistake as a Hindu and forgive us.”
“We apologize to all Hindu organizations, Hindu society, and to all those who are working for the betterment of the Hindu religion,” further stated the letter, said media reports.
Following the function in the school, a few parents and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a right-wing organization protested against the celebrations. The video of the protests surfaced on social media sites substantiate the protests.
