Gujarat: Amid chaos over mass cancellations, a Hyderabad-bound IndiGo flight with 180 passengers and 6 crew members on board was diverted to Ahmedabad on Thursday after receiving a bomb scare. The flight number 6E 058, en route from Saudi Arabia’s Medina, made an emergency landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport around 12.30 am.
“When the flight was on its way to Hyderabad from Madinah, someone sent an email to IndiGo claiming that a bomb had been planted on the aircraft. Since Ahmedabad was the closest airport, the pilot decided to land here as a precautionary measure,” Zone 4 DCP Atul Bansal told PTI. According to reports, security agencies ran thorough checks, but no suspicious object was found in the aircraft during the initial search.
