A 35-year-old man allegedly kidnapped, gang-raped, and attempted to kill his wife over the suspicion of an extramarital affair in Gujrat, Surat. According to the police, the victim, who was thrown into the Tapi River, somehow managed to escape and approached police to file a complaint against the suspects, including her husband. Police said that the suspect, the husband, has been identified as Ganesh Rajput, and his friend as Prince Kumar, 22.
On July 24, Ganesh Rajput allegedly assaulted his wife with a hammer and stabbed her over suspicion of an extramarital affair. The next day, he called his friend Kumar and took her to a rented room in Deendayal Nagar, where they allegedly gang-raped and brutally assaulted her.
Subsequently, Rajput called two more friends, Vijay alias Kachyo Ishwarbhai Rathod (29) and Appa Jagannath Waghmare (39), to dispose of her body. Assuming she was dead, they took her to a remote area and tied her hands and legs before throwing her into the Tapi River. Police said the woman somehow rescued herself and approached the Kapodara police station.
A case of gang rape and attempt to murder of BNS was registered against the suspects, and they were arrested. Investigation revealed that Rajput, who works as a driver, has 26 cases against him at various police stations in Surat.
