In Gujarat, a tragic incident has unfolded as 45-year-old Surya J, the wife of an IAS officer, committed suicide by ingesting poison at the doorstep of her home. Surya, originally from Tamil Nadu, was previously known for eloping with a gangster and being involved in a high-profile child abduction case.
According to reports, Surya took the poison early Saturday morning at the entrance of her estranged husband Ranjit Kumar J’s residence in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. Ranjit Kumar, who was in the process of finalizing their divorce, had instructed his staff to deny her entry. Surya, unable to gain access, resorted to the desperate act of poisoning herself at the doorstep. She was rushed to a civil hospital but succumbed to the poison during treatment.

The Times of India reports that Surya’s visit to her husband’s home may have been an attempt to evade arrest related to a 14-year-old boy’s abduction. Surya’s involvement in this case came to light due to her association with her gangster boyfriend, known as ‘High Court Maharaja.’ On July 11, following a financial dispute with the child’s mother, the gang abducted the boy, demanding a ransom of 20 million rupees. The police successfully rescued the child and began a search for all those implicated, including Surya.
Reports suggest that Surya had abandoned her husband approximately nine months ago to live with “High Court Maharaja.” The tragic end of her life has added a new layer of complexity to the ongoing investigation into the abduction case.
