The Ahmedabad crime branch seized narcotics, including charas, MD drugs, and hybrid ganja worth Rs 3.45 crore from Ahmedabad.
Trying to evade detection, the handlers sent these Narcotics in disguise as toys through online platforms from Canada, the US, and Thailand.
Gujarat Minister of State for Home, Harsh Sanghavi, shared the details on X. He wrote: “Ahmedabad Crime Branch Strikes on Party Drugs Smuggling Network. Ahmedabad Crime Branch takes decisive action to dismantle a major drug smuggling operation. A total quantity of hybrid ganja, MD drugs, and charas worth an estimated Rs. 3,45,25,000/-.The drugs were illegally imported from countries including the USA, Canada, and Thailand. Smugglers tried to conceal the drugs under the guise of toys and other food items shipped via the internet. Crime Branch sends a strong message that such illegal activities will be dealt with severely to protect the public.”
It is being seen as a massive crackdown on drug peddlers who were channelising international operations. The crackdown also nailed the local handlers and distributors. The police said that they will continue such operations in the future too.
In the last couple of years, Gujarat state has arrested over three lakh people who were involved in illegal activities of narcotics and illegal liquor.
