A case involving a 23-year-old private tutor from Surat, Gujarat, who ran away with her 13-year-old student and was later found five months pregnant, has shocked the nation. It has raised serious concerns about child safety in private tutoring.
The situation became more serious when a medical test showed the woman was pregnant, and she claimed the minor was the father. This led authorities to order a DNA test.
The incident happened on the afternoon of April 25, when the teacher, who had been trusted by the boy’s family, disappeared with him in broad daylight, causing panic and a quick search.
Teacher Caught on Camera Leaving with Student
CCTV footage from their housing society showed the teacher leaving with the 13-year-old, carrying a sling bag, suggesting she planned the escape.
The teacher had been tutoring the boy for three years. For the last year, he was her only private student, and their relationship became too close and harmful.
Police found that the teacher allegedly abused the boy at her home and later at a hotel in Vadodara while they were hiding.
Before running away to Surat, the boy gave some of his clothes to the teacher, who also bought more items to help them escape.
Father Lodges Police Complaint
The father filed a complaint at Surat’s Puna Police station, reporting that his 13-year-old son is missing. He suspected the boy’s school and home tutor. The police began their search using CCTV footage and other clues.
On April 30, they tracked the teacher and the minor, arresting her on a bus near the Shamalaji border while returning from Jaipur. During questioning, the teacher admitted to having a physical relationship with the boy, shocking the police. Puna Police Inspector V M Desai filed a case against her under the POCSO Act for sexually abusing the minor. The court granted one day of police custody for the teacher.
Teacher Pregnant, Claims Minor Student as Father
When the police conducted a medical test on the arrested teacher, they found she was pregnant. Surat City Police DCP (Zone-1) Alok Kumar stated that a DNA test will be conducted to verify her claim.
The teacher alleges she became pregnant through a physical relationship with the 13-year-old boy. According to the police, her pregnancy is 20 weeks and four days along. This case, which began with the kidnapping of a 13-year-old, has taken a bizarre turn, leaving everyone stunned. The police have also arranged counseling for the minor boy.
