Gujarat Poisonous Liquor: Ten people died and 20 others have been admitted to various hospitals after allegedly consuming illegal alcohol in Botad district of Gujarat.
Range Inspector General of Police Ashok Yadav has formed an SIT for conducting an investigation into the incident.

More than a dozen people who returned home after drinking alcohol in the night from a country liquor base near Naboi Chowkdi in Botad, their health deteriorated in the morning.
After complaining of vomiting, diarrhea and fever, they were taken to a hospital in Barwala. Shantibhai Parmar, a resident of Rojind village, and six others died here.
Many people were undergoing treatment here, who were now referred to Bhavnagar for treatment. As soon as the information was received, Bhavnagar Range IG Ashok Yadav and other top officials reached the spot. Police has confirmed the death of four people, while according to unconfirmed sources seven people have died due to spurious liquor.

Range IG said that a special investigation team headed by an officer of the rank of Deputy Superintendent of Police has been constituted to probe the incident. Anti-Terrorism Team (ATS) Gujarat Deputy Inspector General of Police Dipen Bhadran, Bhavnagar Superintendent of Police Sunil Joshi have also reached Rojid village along with a team of several officials for an investigation into the incident.
Nine people from Barwala Hospital have been referred to Bhavnagar for treatment.
Sarpanch condemns incident
JD Dungrani, the sarpanch of Rojid village, alleges that despite his complaint, the country liquor business continued in the village. In March 2022, he had reportedly complained to the police and the local administration about the running of country liquor shops in the village and demanded their removal.
He alleged that the police on the contrary threatened him by calling him to the police station.
