The Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) on Monday announced that it has allocated 21 plots, each measuring 100 square metres, to Mother Dairy for establishing milk booths in different blocks of Sectors 18 and 20 in Greater Noida.
This move from YEIDA is to improve access to dairy products in the region. As quoted by Hindustan Times, YEIDA Chief Executive Officer, Arun Vir Singh, mentioned, “We will allot 27 plots to Mother Dairy in the coming days to further expand its retail network. We had launched an open-ended scheme of 21 plots for milk and vegetable booths in the first phase in Sectors 18 and 20 in March last year.”
According to officials, Mother Dairy submitted a written request to Yeida about its plan to build kiosks after launching the scheme.
According to a letter Mother Dairy sent to Yeida in April, a high-ranking official declared that the company would construct kiosks by using its own funds as per design guidelines from the Delhi Urban Art Commission. The official requested Yeida for property located next to residential areas with between 1500 to 3500 flats.
According to the YEIDA scheme, booths were allocated directly by the authority following an objective evaluation of applicants and their presentations. Mother Dairy was granted plots on a 90-year lease for Rs 3.5 crore. Apart from the milk booths, the company has submitted a proposal to the authority requesting 20 to 25 acres of land for setting up a dairy processing facility in the area. Discussions are ongoing, and officials stated the proposal will be considered once a formal letter is received.
According to officials, this expansion of Mother Dairy will ensure access to good quality milk within proximity. This initiative from the YEIDA will boost the basic infrastructure and make things reach the residents living in that region.
