In a heartbreaking incident in Greater Noida (West), a 33-year-old woman visiting her family from the US jumped from the balcony of a 16th-floor apartment, holding her 6-month-old daughter. The tragic event resulted in the immediate demise of both mother and child.
Greater Noida – Background and Family Visit
The woman, a homemaker, had been battling various health issues since the birth of her daughter and was reportedly in a state of depression. She arrived in India around two weeks ago, accompanied by her two children, to stay with her brother and mother in the Greater Noida society. Just two days before the tragic incident, the family, along with the woman’s in-laws, joyfully celebrated her 4-year-old son’s birthday. Notably, her husband remained in the US during this period.

Greater Noida – Disturbing Discovery and Police Response
The society’s security guard alerted the police about the suicide at 12:17 am. According to the family’s account, they completed dinner, and the woman retired to her room earlier in the night.
“A police team reached the society and began investigating. The woman got married in 2021. Her brother said that since giving birth to her daughter six months ago, she had not been in good physical health and was also suffering from depression,” shared ACP Hemant Upadhyay.
Mental Health Struggles and Family Response
The family, devastated by the tragedy, does not suspect foul play. As of now, they have not filed any complaint, and a post-mortem examination has not been pursued. The husband, residing in the US, is expected to face the profound loss of his wife and infant daughter.
