The Indian government runs various schemes to support farmers across the country. One significant initiative is the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, launched in 2019, which provides financial assistance to over 130 million farmers. Under this scheme, eligible farmers receive up to ₹6,000 annually, paid in three installments.
Recently, the government introduced a new scheme called AgriSure, aimed at helping farmers start their own agricultural businesses. This initiative was launched by Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan last year. The AgriSure scheme, officially known as the Agriculture Fund for Startups and Rural Enterprises, is designed to promote innovation and technology in agriculture and rural areas.
With a dedicated budget of ₹750 crores, this fund aims to create new income opportunities for young entrepreneurs in the agricultural sector. Farmers looking to start a business can receive financial support of up to ₹25 crores, although specific conditions will determine the final amount.
To apply for the AgriSure scheme, farmers can reach out to the investment managers at the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) or send an email to agrisure@nabard.org. This initiative is part of the government’s broader effort to enhance the agricultural landscape in India and support farmers in achieving economic stability through entrepreneurship.
