Gorakhpur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) arrested a senior material manager of the North Eastern Railway (NER) in Gorakhpur for accepting a bribe of ₹3 lakh from a complainant.
Subsequently, raids were conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused at Gorakhpur and Noida (Uttar Pradesh) and ₹2.61 crore (approx) in cash and incriminating documents were recovered.
The arrested person was identified as Senior Material Manager (IRSS: 1988), Gorakhpur, NER, KC Joshi.
According to the CBI, The accused demanded a bribe for not canceling the registration of the complainant’s company in the GEM portal. It was further alleged that the complainant company was supplying trucks to the Railways under an annual contract of ₹80,000 per truck per month.
A trap was planned by the CBI and the accused was caught in accepting an undue favor of Rs 3 lakh from the complainant.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at the official and residential premises of the accused at Gorakhpur and Noida (Uttar Pradesh) through which ₹2.61 crore (approx) in cash and incriminating documents were recovered.
The arrested accused was produced before a court in Lucknow.
