Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway: Coming Soon! 750 KM Stretch To Ease Travel Between UP And Haryana

The expressway is expected to get completed in three years and will be constructed in several phases. It will run from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Panipat in Haryana.

Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway: Several highway projects are under construction this year (2025). While some are nearing completion and awaiting inauguration, the foundation stones of others will be laid. India is investing heavily in developing infrastructure to improve connectivity across the country. Regional connectivity has been prioritised significantly. Adding to these developments is the Expressway from Gorakhpur to Panipat.

The expressway from Gorakhpur to Panipat is soon going to become reality and facilitate commuters of both the states. According to reports, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has chosen a Delhi-based ICT firm as consultant for this ambitious project. This firm will be responsible for preparing DPR of the project and demarcation of land as well.

More About The Project

The total length of the project is reported to be 750 km and will cover 22 districts. It will run from Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh to Panipat in Haryana. The stretch will pass through Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharth Nagar, Balrampur, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Badaun, Rampur, Moradabad, Bareilly, Sambhal, Bijnor, Amroha, Meerut, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar, Shamli.

This will improve connectivity and enhance travel experience of commuters. The distance and travel time between both the cities will be reduced significantly. Moreover, commuters would be able to reach Haridwar in just 8 hours through this expressway.

The expressway is expected to get completed in three years and will be constructed in several phases.

Notably, the expressway was earlier proposed from Gorakhpur to Shamli, but has been extended to Panipat now.

Meanwhile, the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has received approval to construct an elevated 8.5-kilometer section as part of the Rs 1,650 crore Greenfield Expressway extending from Faridabad to Jewar International Airport in Uttar Pradesh. The construction of pillars for the elevated section has already begun near Sector 65, as this section will link both the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway and the local city infrastructure.
