On Wednesday, a team of government officials visited both the sites and took stock of the preparations. During this, Gorakhpur District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh was also involved in the inspection.

There are several expressway projects that are soon going to open for the public in Uttar Pradesh. One such expressway project is the Gorakhpur Link Expressway. The inauguration ceremony of the Gorakhpur Link Expressway, which connects to the Purvanchal Expressway, will be held on June 17. The event will be held at two places, where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will address public meetings at both places and inaugurate the expressway. The first event will be held near Salempur in Azamgarh, where this link meets the Purvanchal Expressway. The second event will be held near Bhagwanpur toll plaza in the Jaitpur area of Gorakhpur. In view of the possibility of rain, it has been decided to hold the inauguration ceremony on the expressway itself.

Earlier, the expressway was scheduled to open in December, but it was postponed due to incomplete construction work. The inauguration was then planned for the last week of March or the first fortnight of April, but it had to be delayed again due to the collapse of the approach road near the Kamhariyaghat Bridge in the Belghar area. Now, all the construction work has been completed, and the repair of the approach road near Kamhariyaghat has also been completed. Also, the work of changing the direction of the river is also going on at a fast pace to ensure three-level security, which Setu Nigam says will be completed in the stipulated time.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Commissioner Anil Dhingra and DM Krishna Karunesh inspected the status of construction of the expressway on April 23. On the same evening, the Chief Minister himself reviewed the progress and directed the agencies to complete the work soon.

About Gorakhpur Link Expressway

The Gorakhpur Link Expressway starts from Jaitpur near Sahajanwan and ends by connecting to the Purvanchal Expressway at Salempur in Azamgarh district. This 91.35 km long expressway is built at a cost of about Rs 7000 crore. This will directly benefit the people of Gorakhpur, Azamgarh, Sant Kabirnagar and Ambedkarnagar. Through this, the journey to Lucknow can be completed in just three and a half to four hours. Although this route is 30-40 km longer than going to Lucknow via Gorakhpur-Ayodhya, the travel time will be less due to no traffic obstruction.
