New Delhi: The Union government on Friday gave good news for Agniveers and Agniveer aspirants. The Union Home Ministry has announced to give 10 per cent reservation to former Agniveers in future vacancies of Border Security force (BSF) with relaxation in age-limit.
The Home Ministry issued a notification after amending the Border Security force, General Duty Cadre (Non-Gazetted) Recruitment Rules. The change will come into effect from March 9.
As per the notification, ten per cent of vacancies in all future BSF recruitment shall be reserved for ex-Agniveers.
The first batch of Agniveers will have 5 years of upper age relaxation and in other batches, Agniveers would entertain 3 years of upper age relaxation. Ex-Agniveers will also be exempted from the physical efficiency test, the government notification said.
The Union government on June 14 last year announced the Agnipath scheme to recruit youth aged between 17 and a half and 21 for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force for four years of short-term contractual tenure.
At that time the government announced that Those who would be recruited under the scheme will be known as ‘Agniveers’ and 25 per cent of them from each batch will be offered regular service in armed forces.
