Good News for Rajasthan! The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by PM Modi, on Tuesday (August 19, 2025), gave the nod for the construction of a new Greenfield Kota-Bundi Airport. The project, proposed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI), will be developed at a total capital cost of Rs 1,507 crore.
Kota, popularly known as the industrial capital of Rajasthan, is located along the Chambal River. The Rajasthan Government has allocated 440.06 hectares of land to AAI for the construction of the proposed Greenfield Airport, which will accommodate A-321 type aircraft. Additionally, a terminal building covering an area of 20,000 sq. m will be developed. It will be designed to handle 1,000 peak-hour passengers (PHP), with an annual capacity of 20 lakh passengers.
The new Greenfield Airport will also feature:
- Runway 11/29 with dimensions of 3,200m x 45m
- Two link taxiways
- Apron with 07 parking bays
- ATC-cum-Technical Block
- Fire Station
- Car Park
- Allied works
Kota’s prominence in the educational and industrial sectors makes the airport a critical infrastructure project. Not only does it contribute to the economic growth of the region, but it also addresses increasing traffic-related challenges.
