The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways have taken an initiative to develop a high speed expressway which will link Bengaluru and Mangaluru. This initiative is taken with an aim to provide connectivity between Karnataka’s southern and Coastal region.
In July, The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) sought bids to select a consultant to make a detailed project report and by November, 9 firms submitted the technical bids.
The ministry to allot the contract next year, with the chosen firm given 540 days to complete the detailed project report (DPR). The construction work is expected to commence by 2028. The highway will have length of around 335 km. The highway will connect Bengaluru and Mangaluru.
The Public Work Department of Karnataka and National Highways Authority Of India (NHAI) will work together on alignment and land acquisition.
The Bengaluru-Mangaluru expressway To Boost Transportation
According to the reports the highway may have four to six lanes, which will pass through Hassan. Once the construction work will get completed of the expressway, it is expected that it will cut travel time by 7-8 hours, as reported by Deccan Herald.
The Bengaluru-Mangaluru expressway will boost the transportation network and reduce the travel time between the two cities. After the construction of the highway connecting Bengaluru-Mangaluru things are expected to change in better way.
Older Route For Travel Between Bengaluru And Mangaluru
The current route which connects two cities, Bengaluru and Mangaluru, faces frequent landslides and faces major problem during monsoon. The parts of highway are having six lanes.
