Good News! Bengaluru-Chennai Expressway: 68-Km Stretch Now Open For Commuters—Key Details Here

This route is currently unofficially functional for the public within Karnataka, as reported by Times of India.

As quoted by Times of India, an NHAI official mentioned that, “Motorists are using the stretch from the Hoskote interchange, exiting at Bethamangala. We have put in all road safety measures. All types of vehicles are using the road. Till a notification is issued for the collection of the toll, we cannot restrict any category of vehicles. We’ve written to the headquarters for collection of tolls and further directions are awaited.”

Commuters travel through village roads to reach Mulbagal and the Andhra Pradesh border while using the 68 km toll-free stretch between Hoskote and KGF (Bethamangala). The 3-Km route of 71-Km route constructed by NHAI is expected to be completed by year-end.

According to the original plans, the expressway extends from Sriperumbudur near Chennai through Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, covering a total distance of 260 km. As per design specifications, the expressway features a four-lane carriageway with a speed capacity of up to 120 kmph.

In Karnataka, NHAI is expected to set up two toll plazas. When the Bengaluru-Mysuru access-controlled highway was opened, NHAI imposed restrictions banning motorcycles, autorickshaws, and tractors from using the main carriageway. Similar restrictions are anticipated for the new expressway, as per media reports.
