Luthra brothers to be flown to India soon
According to sources familiar with the matter, the deportation process has been initiated. Indian agencies were consistently in touch with Thai authorities to secure the Luthra brothers’ return and are currently tracking their movements and stay. Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is examining a request from the Goa government to revoke the Luthra brothers’ passports.
Duo fled India shortly after the fire tragedy
The two brothers fled India shortly after a massive blaze broke out in their ‘Birch by Romeo Lane’ nightclub on December 6 that claimed 25 lives. They were held in Thailand after raids were carried out on Thursday morning in coordination with local police. They will be flown back to India after the immigration process is completed. Before the detention, the Goa Police had suspended their passports.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) earlier clarified that the Union government or an authorised official can suspend a passport as per the provisions of Section 10A of the Passports Act, 1967. Upon suspension, the individual cannot use the passport to travel out of India. The detained brothers are facing multiple look-out notices, an Interpol Blue Notice, and a criminal probe back home. A Non-Bailable Warrant (NBW) was also issued against them by a Goa court.
