According to reports Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra are likely to arrive in India by Monday. The External Affairs Ministry, the Indian Embassy in Thailand, and the CBI are working closely with the Royal Thai Police and Thai authorities to coordinate their return.
A tragic late-night fire at a well-known Goa nightclub on December 6 claimed the lives of 25 people and left several others injured. Officials said most of the victims died due to suffocation after getting trapped in the basement. The nightclub is co-owned by Delhi-based brothers Saurabh and Gaurav Luthra, who left India shortly after the incident. Following an extensive search, the brothers were detained in Thailand, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation. Authorities said the duo fled the country soon after the fire and were tracked down as Indian agencies intensified efforts to locate them. Their detention has brought fresh momentum to the case, which has drawn nationwide attention.
How the Goa Nightclub Fire Tragedy Unfolded
The fire broke out late on Saturday night while the club was hosting a musical event. Around 100 people, most of them tourists, were inside the venue at the time. Videos circulating online show dancers and musicians performing to popular Bollywood songs. Investigators believe that electric firecrackers used during the performance may have sparked the blaze.
The fire spread quickly, filling the building with thick smoke. As panic set in, many people were unable to find their way out, leading to 25 deaths and six injuries. Rescue teams rushed to the spot, but the rapid spread of smoke and flames made rescue efforts extremely difficult.
Authorities are continuing their investigation into possible safety lapses and violations as the process to bring the Luthra brothers back to India moves forward.
