Deadly night in Arpora

The massive fire broke out around midnight at the popular nightclub located in Arpora, one of Goa’s busiest tourist zones. The blaze is believed to have started after firecrackers burst inside the premises, quickly spreading through the club’s wooden interiors.

Most victims, including staff members and tourists, were trapped in the basement and died due to suffocation as thick smoke filled the area. A few others were found severely burnt. Initial investigations revealed shocking safety lapses, the club reportedly had only two gates and lacked adequate fire-safety measures, causing panic and making escape nearly impossible.

The tragedy has sparked nationwide outrage and renewed concerns over safety standards in Goa’s nightlife hotspots.

Police crack down as hunt for owners intensifies

Following the incident, police arrested four senior staff members of the club, including the general manager, bar manager and gate manager. Meanwhile, arrest warrants have been issued against Saurabh Luthra and his brother Gaurav Luthra on charges including culpable homicide.

Authorities have confirmed that a dedicated police team is now actively searching for the absconding owners. The Goa government has also ordered a magisterial probe to investigate how the club was operating despite alleged violations and missing safety clearances.

With public anger rising, Luthra’s statement has done little to calm emotions. Families of the victims continue to demand accountability and swift justice as the investigation deepens.
