Indore is known for being the cleanest city in India. Not the city aspires to become the beggar free. The district administration will start filing FIR against the person who gives money to the beggar. This measure will apply from January 1, 2025.
Ashish Singh, District Collector stated that the administration has already brought the order to ban begging in Indore, as reported by NDTV.
As quoted by NDTV, the official stated that, “Our awareness campaign against begging will continue till the end of this month. If any person is found giving alms from January 1, an FIR will also be registered against him/her,” he said. “I appeal to all residents of Indore not to become partners in the sin by giving alms to people.”
The pilot by the central government aims to rehabilitate the beggars. Apart from this, their other aim is to make the streets of Indore beggar-free.
Under this project comes the 10 cities, which include, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Lucknow, Indore, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Nagpur, Patna and Ahmedabad.
According to media reports, the administration in Indore has made some revelations. An official Dinesh Mishra stated that, when they prepare a report, they came to know that some of the beggars were having ‘Pucca House’. Further, he mentioned that they found Rs 29,000 on a beggar, as per media reports.
