Ghaziabad: The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) has started the process to acquire 541.1 hectares of land for the new Harnandipuram Township. This land will be taken from eight villages, moving the project closer to completion.
Ban on Land Sales to Outsiders
To protect farmers, the GDA will soon enforce Section 11 of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013. This law will stop the sale of land in the villages to prevent outsiders from buying it and reselling it at higher prices. The villages affected by this are Nagla Firoz Mohanpur, Morta, Bhaupur, Ataur, Champat Nagar, Shamsher, Bhaida Khurd, Mathurapur, and Shahpur Morta.
Township Plan Approved in August
The GDA approved the plan for the Harnandipuram Township in August. Surveys have already started to measure the land. Rajesh Singh, the GDA Secretary, said the land sale ban will help ensure that farmers get a fair price for their land and aren’t taken advantage of by speculators.

Notification Coming Soon
The GDA will issue an official notification in about a month to fully enforce the ban on land sales in these areas. Until then, the GDA will watch for any illegal transactions. Farmers will still be allowed to sell land to each other but not to outsiders.
Land Acquisition Breakdown
The largest amount of land, 247.8 hectares, will be taken from Nangla Ferozepur. Shamsher village will contribute 123.97 hectares, while other villages like Champat Nagar and Shahpur Morta will provide smaller amounts. This step is crucial for the smooth development of the township while ensuring that farmers are protected.
