In a tragic incident, a police sub-inspector was killed after a car ran her over in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad. The incident took place when she fell from her bike while saving a stray dog.
According to PTI, the mishap occurred around 2am in the wee hours when the sup-inspector, Richa Sachan, was returning home from her duty.
“The motorcycle hit a stray dog due to which she lost her balance and fell on the road. A car coming from behind ran over her and despite wearing a helmet she was severely injured,” the news agency quoted Additional Commissioner of Police, Kavi Nagar, Bhaskar Verma as saying.
After receiving the information, the police rushed to the spot and took her to a hospital, but doctors declared her dead on arrival.
Richa Sachan, a native of Kanpur, had started her career in the police department as a sub-inspector in 2023. She was also preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) examination.
2 Killed, 5 Injured As Bus Rams Divider In Karnataka
In a separate incident, two people were killed and five others injured after a private bus rammed into a road divider in Karnataka’s Haveri district, police said on Tuesday.
According to officials, the bus, carrying 36 passengers, met with the accident near Motebennur village on Monday. The injured were shifted to Haveri District Hospital for treatment.
“Two people died after a private bus collided with a road divider. Five people were seriously injured in the accident and have been admitted to the Haveri District Hospital. A total of 36 people were on board the bus. The accident occurred near Motebennur village,” Haveri Police said in a statement.
