IIT Kharagpur is celebrating its 75th Foundation Day with a special address by Gautam Adani. The event will also be graced by Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as the Chief Guest and MoS Dr. Sukanta Majumdar as the Guest of Honour.

The celebrations will include key announcements and the conferment of prestigious honors such as the Institute Chair Professorships, GS Sanyal Faculty Excellence Award, Nina Saxena Excellence in Technology Award 2025, Young Alumni Achievers 2025, Distinguished Service Award 2024, and, for the first time, the Hall of Fame Award for distinguished alumni. Employees completing 25 years of service will also be recognized with the Staff Excellence Awards.
Speaking at the Foundation Day celebrations, Gautam Adani said he did not even glance at his calendar before accepting the invitation to the occasion. In his address, he recalled the inspiring stories of freedom fighters like Tridib Kumar Chaudhuri.
Adani added that today’s youth face an “invisible battle,” where the weapons are no longer physical arms but powerful algorithms shaping the modern world.

Adani emphasized the importance of aatmanirbharta (self-reliance), calling students the “new freedom fighters” and urging them to strive for true and lasting freedom. He stressed the need for autonomy and independence across all spheres that influence the nation’s growth.
