New Delhi: On Tuesday in Punjab’s Ludhiana, liquid carbon dioxide was leaked from a tanker at a gas storing unit in the Giaspura area leaving five ill and hospitalised.

The incident took place at Weltech Equipment and Infrastructure Limited where the gas was being transferred from a tanker to the premises. As many as four workers were present at the spot.

The Ludhiana Police informed that the four workers were safe who promptly informed the owner about the gas leak. The official also added that five workers from a nearby knitwear factory panicked and felt dizzy after the gas leak caused blackout there.

“People here were immediately evacuated and all measures were immediately taken to stop the leakage. Nobody was injured here but 5 workers in adjacent factory fainted and were shifted to civil hospital; they’re out of danger. NDRF was immediately mobilized, said Rahul Chaba, ADC (General).
