Goa: A man working as a bartender at a Goa hotel was arrested on Thursday for allegedly assaulting a Dutch woman tourist. Police said that the accused has been identified as Abhishek Verma (27), a resident of Dehradun.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday at the Wigwam resort in Mandrem, Superintendent of Police (North Goa) Nidhin Valson told reporters. The female tourist has said in her complaint that an unknown person aged 25 to 30 forcibly entered her hotel room.

The woman tourist said that the miscreant tried to grope her with ill intention and threatened her when she started shouting. Hearing the commotion, a local person came to save him, the assailant ran away, but after a while, he again returned with the knife.

It has been said in the complaint that the accused, who came again with a knife, attacked the woman and the person who came to save her, injured them and then fled from there. A case was registered against the unidentified man under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) following a complaint by a female tourist. Pernem police arrested Abhishek Verma during the investigation.
