Prayagraj: Gangster Atiq Ahmad, who was sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2006 Umesh Pal kidnapping case by a Prayagraj court, will be sent back to Sabarmati Central Jail in Gujarat, a jail official said.
Atiq was brought to Prayagraj from Sabarmati Jail by road for the hearing in an MP-MLA court. He was kept in Naini Jail before a hearing.
According to a senior jail official, Atiq will be shifted to Sabarmati central Jail soon.
Atiq Ahmad, a former Samajwadi party Member of Parliament, was shifted to Sabarmati Central Jail in June 2019 following an order of the Supreme court after UP police accused him of planning the kidnapping and assault of a businessman Mohit Jaiswal from prison in Uttar Pradesh

The special MP-MLA court Judge Dinesh Shukla awarded Atiq, Saulat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi
The special MP-MLA court Judge Dinesh Shukla awarded Atiq, Saulat Hanif and Dinesh Pasi life imprisonment after finding them guilty under IPC section 364-A (Kidnapping or abduction in order to murder).
The Court has also imposed Rs 1 lakh fine on each. The amount will be provided to the family of Umesh Pal, who was killed last month.
