The Ganga Expressway is expected to be functional by November 2025. Till now 60% of the work has been done on the route. The remaining 40% of the work is underway. The length of this expressway is 594-km. The expressway connects eastern and western UP.
26 underpasses have been proposed in the under construction Ganga Expressway, which will cover an area of 105-km. On the demand of the local villagers, 5-6 more underpasses were proposed and are under construction at present time.
The engineers of Patel Infrastructure which has been given the tender have stated that, the construction of the underpasses is going on at a fast pace and will be complete very soon. On the other hand the demand for an underpass made by the villagers of Algangarh has been approved, whereas no decision has been made for the underpass demanded by villagers of Mattukheda Majra- Rahimabad of Safipur, as per media reports.
Basiratganj situated on Kanpur-Lucknow highway and Naverna located near Kanpur-Lucknow expressway are experiencing the construction fo one flyover each. 60% of construction is completed, whereas 40% of the construction is remaining.
Features Of The Expressway
Initially the expressway was planned to be made of 6 lanes but later on it got updated with 8 lanes. The width of the lanes on both the side of roads is 130 meters. Two major toll plaza will be built on the route. The expressway is a greenfield project. According to media reports 9 amenity complexes will be made, which include food court, rest room facilities, etc.
Compensation To Farmers
As per Special Land Acquisition Officer Pramesh Srivatava, Rs 11.38 billion will be paid 18,644 as compensation to farmers, whose land came under the acquisition in the district.
Benefits From The Expressway
It will enhance the connectivity. It will be a medium to travel between eastern and western UP. It will make the journey comfortable for the commuters.
