As the monsoon season withdraws, the state of Maharashtra is likely to experience heavy rainfall over the next couple of days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted intense showers over parts of Marathwada, Vidarbha, and central Maharashtra. Mumbai and its suburbs will have cloudy skies with scattered rains. Periodic showers have been forecast over the city, said the report.

Like Pune, the weather forecast in the next few days is similar and rain is forecasted. This might influence daily activities and the festivities that are planned. The forecast about the rain means that the monsoon has not yet ended, and there will be wet weather ahead for the citizens.

Pune Under Threat Of Rain On Ganeshotsav

As Pune waits for the final day of Ganeshotsav-anant chaturdashi, rain disruption could be felt. Immersion processions for the final day may get affected. Devotees planning a final round of festivities are advised to be cautious. IMD has forecasted cloudy skies with a possibility of late afternoon showers today, which might also influence immersion processions. Devotees are asked to be careful and watch out for changes in the weather before stepping out for celebrations.

West Bengal And Odisha Red Alerts
While Maharashtra readies itself for heavy rains, many other parts of the nation are on red alert. The India Meteorological Department has sounded red alerts for the states of West Bengal and Odisha, which have reported heavy rainfalls in those areas. Several districts in West Bengal are in conditions close to flooding with low-lying areas currently under water. The low-pressure system is placed near the Ganges delta and Bangladesh, which is forcing heavy rain into the states.

Orange Alert In Jharkhand
Orange alert has been sounded in Jharkhand, as the state prepares to face heavy showers. Waterlogging has already been reported in various areas of the state on Monday due to the incessant rainfall. The weather department expects these conditions to prevail for a while; people should proceed with caution if they need to travel. Rain might create traffic snarls and disrupt daily life through the rest of this week.

Very strong winds are hitting Himachal Pradesh with severe rain. The tribal region of Rajasthan has been warned.

Heavy rains do not strike only Maharashtra and the eastern states. Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Rajasthan are also worse off. Six districts of Himachal Pradesh witnessed downpours under yellow alert on Monday. Rain and landslides have blocked 74 roads, including many national highways. On the Badrinath Highway, landslides at various points continue unabated and have stranded hundreds of vehicles. The worst-hit pilgrims are those traveling to Badrinath and Hemkund Sahib as more than 400 vehicles are stuck there because of the debris and landslides.
The weather forecasting department has also issued a heavy rainfall warning for Rajasthan and other states for the next two days, asking the residents to be alert and not to travel unnecessarily.
Weather Warnings Multiply in Multiple States

IMD has issued warnings for 13 states and union territories. Heavy to very heavy rainfall, along with gusty winds, have been forecast to strike these states within the next two to three days: Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Rajasthan, Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal, Nagaland, Mizoram, Tripura and Andaman and Nicobar Islands. The concerned public residing in all these states should be vigilant and follow local weather updates accordingly.

Seventy-four roads have been closed in Himachal due to landslides and flooding. Workers from the National Highway Authority and other officials are working to clear the roads, but heavy rain is creating hindrances to it.

Rain Warnings For Delhi

Monday began with a sunny spell in Delhi, bringing much-needed relief to the rain-soaked residents. However, by Tuesday, the Indian Meteorological Department predicted a light rain shower spread, under which cloudy skies would dominate the entire day. In the capital, the maximum should reach 34°C, while minimums go as low as 25°C. A yellow alert has been issued for Wednesday, under which rain is likely to return and could discommode travel and activities.
