Indian Railways have been upgraded with multiple ongoing developmental projects. It has various projects which will get implemented this year and some are under process projects.
One such project is the Rishikesh-Karnaprayag Rail route. The Indian Railways have almost finished the construction work of the India’s longest railway tunnel in Uttarakhand. Once the work on the railway line connecting Rishikesh to Karnaprayag gets completed, then going to Chardham will be much easier for the devotees.

About The Project
The length of this track will be 125.20 Km. Out of this total length of the track 105 km will go through the tunnel. This tunnel will the longest railway tunnel of the country, making the travel easier and get completed in just 2 hours.
Now it takes around 7 hours to reach Karnaprayag from Rishikesh. This will save time of commuters who will be using this service.
In total 17 tunnels will be constructed in this 125-Km rail route. This will boost the economy of Uttarakhand and give an option to the devotees going for the Chardham Yatra. It will be crosiing 12 stations on this track. Around 35 bridges will be constructed for crossing the mountains.
The longest tunnel constructed on this route will be 15.1-Km. This will be construted between Devprayas and Lachmol.
